There are two exam formats – IELTS Academic and IELTS General.   • You’ll be given about a minute to read the questions before the audio is played – use it well.
  • Pay complete attention to the audio because it is played only once.

For acing the reading test, you should practice reading good books, newspapers, and journals.

  • Remember, some reading paragraphs could be from current news, so keep up with the latest news.
  • Practice skimming and scanning documents such as textbooks and/or reading books on a daily basis – it will come in handy during your test.
  • During the reading test, underline the keywords and understand the meaning of words by understanding the context.
  • Don’t spend more than a minute on any question.

IELTS Writing:

  • Your writing capability is assessed based on your ability to explain and describe a concept coherently in detail. Remember not to write a lot, always be concise and precise with your points. If you find it tough to frame complex sentences, break them down into more uncomplicated points.
  • Your writing should be coherent and unique. Don’t memorize content from other resources and reproduce it on your test.
  • Try to make use of sophisticated vocabulary. Never use high-end words you don’t know the meaning to. If you don’t know the exact meaning of a word, it is best if you don’t use it.
  • Your writing should make sense. Markers will usually assess if you can concisely get your point across using writing skills.

IELTS Speaking:

  • Your speaking abilities will be scored on your fluency and confidence. Be sure of what you speak and speak it with confidence.
  • Practice speaking on a variety of topics. During your practice sessions, try to record yourself while speaking so you have a better idea of how you sound, your fluency, and your flow.
  • Pay attention to pronunciation and sentence structure.
